Unlock the secrets of the unsinkable ship…

Bertha Watt, tree-climber and would-be polar explorer, is excited to be on RMS Titanic’s maiden voyage, as she leaves Aberdeen behind for the glamour of a new life in America.
But Bertha quickly realises that some passengers are behaving strangely, and she determines to unravel their secrets. With new friend, Madge, Bertha sets up her own detective agency to try and solve the mysteries onboard, but they have no idea that disaster is looming for Titanic.

Can they help Johan find the hidden treasure and unmask the identity of the enigmatic Mr Hoffman before time runs out on the ‘unsinkable’ ship?

A fresh and compelling re-telling of the Titanic voyage—with a Scottish twist—by best-selling children’s author Lindsay Littleson. Based on real passengers and events, fact and fiction are
skilfully woven together to create a meaningful and moving account of events aboard RMS Titanic. Ideal to tie in with the most popular Social Studies topic in Scottish primary schools: The Unsinkable Ship.

I love that this book has a real historical story at it’s heart. True to the time with some detail that is honest. However, interwoven is a story that both interests boys and girls. A lovely class novel.

Having read Lindsay’s 2018 middle grade historical fiction A Pattern of Secrets I’ve been sure that The Titanic Detective Agency is going to be as good as well. Lindsay hasn’t let me down! She astonishes me with every little detail of the Titanic blended into her outstanding storytelling! The Titanic Detective Agency feels like the Titanic itself – strong, majestic, powerful, exciting, glorious and classic, minus the tragedy. It is indeed a marvel!

Lindsay masters the craft of including real-life characters in her story without altering the facts about them. I recommend reading the afterword and going through the pictures of real people who were aboard the RMS Titanic that Lindsay has put together in the last pages of the book and then begin chapter one.

The Titanic Detective Agency is a treasure trove of facts about Titanic’s passengers, their languages, their background, their lifestyles, their families, their hopes and dreams.

So looking forward to reading all of Lindsay’s future books!
